Effect of mulberry leaf extract with enriched 1-deoxynojirimycin content on postprandial glycemic control in subjects with impaired glucose metabolism

Asai A et al.

Journal of Diabetes Investigation ยท 2011

In plain language

Single doses of a mulberry leaf extract standardized for 1-deoxynojirimycin blunted the 2-hour glucose rise after a carbohydrate challenge in adults with elevated fasting glucose, consistent with alpha-glucosidase inhibition at the intestinal brush border. Dose-ranging design (3, 6 and 9 mg DNJ) makes this a useful standardization reference.
